Upper Elementary
Hello Family and Friends, I would like to warmly introduce myself to all of you. My name is Ms. Kim and I am so excited to be the teacher in Upper Elementary. I will be working closely with Ms. K and Mr. Dennis to ensure a wonderful year for everyone.
I grew up in an Air Force family and have lived and traveled all over the world, including Europe, Asia, Central America, the Middle East and Canada. It's so fun to share my international experiences with my students and feel like I relive each trip when I do. If I could live anywhere in the world, I would have to choose either Japan or Costa Rica. It's a big world out there!
I moved to Las Vegas in 2002 after I graduated from the University of Alaska. I have taught grades ranging from 4th - 12th and come with many years of teaching experience. In my free time, I love spending time with my family and Giant Schnauzer, Echo. We enjoy spending our time camping, hiking and fishing. Secret fact: I'm a master angler and was a deckhand on a fishing boat in Alaska.
I can't wait to meet all of you and look forward to seeing you all soon.

I was born and raised in Morris, Illinois, a small town outside of Chicago, and moved to Las Vegas in 2007 to attend college at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. I am currently pursuing my master’s degree in secondary social studies education, and will be graduating in December, 2018. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, traveling to historic places, reading, theater, and playing with my two cats, Winston and Harrison. I am grateful to be a part of the foundation for the theater program at SSCMS, and looking forward to its future.

I am a Las Vegas transplant from Georgia! I am excited to be here in the Vegas area and even more excited to be a part of Silver Sands. I have wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember and ten years ago that life-long dream came true. I began my teaching career in 2007 after graduating from the University of West Georgia. I began my career by teaching fifth grade but it wasn't until four years later that I found my true passion...Kindergarten! I taught kindergarten in Georgia for six years.
I teach for the "light bulb moments", meaning I truly teach to see a child "get it". I not only love to teach, but love to keep learning. I have taken courses to add a gifted and mathematics endorsement to my certificate. I will seek out professional articles and or books to read when I feel the need to learn something new about my chosen passion.
Outside of teaching, I enjoy sewing, embroidery, and other crafts. I also enjoy running...although I am quite slow I do enjoy participating in races ranging from a 5K distance to a half marathon. I am married an awesome guy, named Mark and have two children; Cameron and Reagan.
