Hello! My name is Kristen Seeley and I have been a 2nd grade teacher for 15 years. I spent 7 years at Elizondo Elementary School and 8 years at Jesse Scott Elementary School. I received my BA Degree in Chemistry from the University of Hawaii at Hilo in 1993. I went on to graduate studies at the University of Wyoming. There I switched from chemistry to teaching. I finished my teaching studies at UNLV.
Mojave Rattlesnakes - Upper Elementary
Hello Family and Friends, I would like to warmly introduce myself to all of you. My name is Ms. Kim and I am so excited to be the teacher in Upper Elementary. I will be working closely with Ms. K and Mr. Dennis to ensure a wonderful year for everyone.
I grew up in an Air Force family and have lived and traveled all over the world, including Europe, Asia, Central America, the Middle East and Canada. It's so fun to share my international experiences with my students and feel like I relive each trip when I do. If I could live anywhere in the world, I would have to choose either Japan or Costa Rica. It's a big world out there!
I moved to Las Vegas in 2002 after I graduated from the University of Alaska. I have taught grades ranging from 4th - 12th and come with many years of teaching experience. In my free time, I love spending time with my family and Giant Schnauzer, Echo. We enjoy spending our time camping, hiking and fishing. Secret fact: I'm a master angler and was a deckhand on a fishing boat in Alaska.
I can't wait to meet all of you and look forward to seeing you all soon.
Scorpions - Upper Elementary
Hi, welcome Scorpions and families! My name is Kiruba but I go by Ms. K. I have a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Master’s in computer applications. This is my 9th year at Silver Sands and I have been a STEM teacher. Science and math were my subjects. I have worked with kids from different grades - from Kindergarten to Middle School.
I understand that this academic year will be challenging for students, teachers, and parents. I look forward to seeing you all and I am excited for this academic year!
I love to dance, but I'm really bad at it. :o)
Favorite Spot in Las Vegas:
I am originally from Minnesota and had a 20-year career in consumer software before becoming a teacher. I took my Montessori training in Northern California and taught in Oakland, CA for 10 years. I hold a Montessori teaching certificate, am a certified ESL teacher, and hold a Nevada substitute teaching license. I have been with SSMCS since 2014 at both the Kindergarten and Lower Elementary level. I greatly look forward to working with the children, and meeting all of our families this new school year.
Fun fact: I was an elected city council official in Minnesota.

I began teaching at Silver Sands in 2016 and currently teach Middle School Social Studies. I was born and raised in Morris, Illinois, a small town outside of Chicago, and moved to Las Vegas in 2007 to attend college at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. I am currently pursuing my master’s degree in secondary social studies education, and will be graduating in December, 2018. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, traveling to historic places, reading, theater, and playing with my two cats, Winston and Harrison. I am grateful to be a part of the foundation for the theater program at SSCMS, and looking forward to its future.

English Language Arts
This is my 4th year teaching at Silver Sands. I received a Bachelor of Music Education with an emphasis in Spanish from the University of Northern Colorado. When I'm not playing the piano or oboe, I I enjoy reading, traveling (though not this year), and spending time with my husband and little daughter.
I have been with Silver Sands as a teacher for the past three years and part of the SSMCS family since 2015. I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from UNLV with her area of study in Landscape Architecture. In my free time I enjoy painting, crafting, and camping with my husband and daughters.
I am a Las Vegas transplant from Georgia! I am excited to be here in the Vegas area and even more excited to be a part of Silver Sands. I have wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember and ten years ago that life-long dream came true. I began my teaching career in 2007 after graduating from the University of West Georgia. I began my career by teaching fifth grade but it wasn't until four years later that I found my true passion...Kindergarten! I taught kindergarten in Georgia for six years.
I teach for the "light bulb moments", meaning I truly teach to see a child "get it". I not only love to teach, but love to keep learning. I have taken courses to add a gifted and mathematics endorsement to my certificate. I will seek out professional articles and or books to read when I feel the need to learn something new about my chosen passion.
Outside of teaching, I enjoy sewing, embroidery, and other crafts. I also enjoy running...although I am quite slow I do enjoy participating in races ranging from a 5K distance to a half marathon. I am married an awesome guy, named Mark and have two children; Cameron and Reagan.
