Roadrunners - Lower Elementary
I am excited to be your new Lower Elementary Teacher. I have had 11 years experience as an Elementary educator. In fact, it was here at Silver Sands that I gained four years as a Montessori elementary teacher immersing myself in the school community and receiving my Montessori certification. My experience has allowed me to gain immeasurable understanding of motivating students through creative and effective lessons. I was motivated to go into teaching after working as an administrative assistant at a private elementary school. Here in Vegas, I received my Master’s in Elementary Education.
One of my greatest joys is my son, Max, who is busy playing basketball and focusing on where he will be going to college.
I know these last few years has been unique for all of us, but especially to the school world. I am eager to go back into our accustomed setting, allowing students to explore and have a hands on approach to learning once again.
I look forward to meeting all of you!
Coyotes - Lower Elementary
After a three-year absence, I am thrilled to be returning to Silver Sands as one of the lower el teachers. I was initially introduced to Montessori through my son, who attended Montessori School pre-k to third grade and was one of the “opening day” students here at Silver Sands.
I am a certified Montessori teacher (ages 3-6) and I also have a Bachelor of Arts degree from Arizona State University (go Sun Devils!). I’ve lived in Henderson for 25 years with my husband, Jerry. My only child, Louis, recently graduated from Foothill High School. He is headed to the University of Nevada, Reno to study Neuroscience and pursue his long-time goal of becoming an ER doctor.
In my spare time, which will increase in the NEAR future, I LOVE watching the first-place St. Louis Cardinals (as of this writing ). I also enjoy keeping up with all my favorite reality shows. I clearly need to pick up a new hobby now that I will soon be childless. Any suggestions? #emptynestcomingsoon

Hello Family and Friends, I would like to warmly introduce myself to all of you. My name is Ms. Kim and I am so excited to be the teacher in Upper Elementary. I will be working closely with Ms. K and Mr. Dennis to ensure a wonderful year for everyone.
I grew up in an Air Force family and have lived and traveled all over the world, including Europe, Asia, Central America, the Middle East and Canada. It's so fun to share my international experiences with my students and feel like I relive each trip when I do. If I could live anywhere in the world, I would have to choose either Japan or Costa Rica. It's a big world out there!
I moved to Las Vegas in 2002 after I graduated from the University of Alaska. I have taught grades ranging from 4th - 12th and come with many years of teaching experience. In my free time, I love spending time with my family and Giant Schnauzer, Echo. We enjoy spending our time camping, hiking and fishing. Secret fact: I'm a master angler and was a deckhand on a fishing boat in Alaska.
I can't wait to meet all of you and look forward to seeing you all soon.
I am originally from Minnesota and had a 20-year career in consumer software before becoming a teacher. I took my Montessori training in Northern California and taught in Oakland, CA for 10 years. Middle School Math
I began my educational career at the University of Southern California majoring in Aerospace Engineering, and after realizing that I enjoyed teaching and working with my peers more than the intricacies of differential equations, I switched my major to History with an emphasis in Education. I was recruited by a local Montessori launch its middle school program, and traveled to Ohio to receive my training with the North American Montessori Teaching Association. After an intensive training of developing a two-year curriculum and being the youngest in my group of 75 educators from around the world, I received my adolescent studies certification and began teaching sixth through eighth grade English, history, mathematics, and science.
I am happy to be back for my second year at SSMCS teaching middle school math to 6th-8th year students. I have been preparing fun and interactive activities for all math classes, and know that this will be a successful year for all of my students. Enjoy the rest of your summer. See you soon.

This is my 4th year teaching at Silver Sands. I received a Bachelor of Music Education with an emphasis in Spanish from the University of Northern Colorado. When I'm not playing the piano or oboe, I I enjoy reading, traveling (though not this year), and spending time with my husband and little daughter.
I have been with Silver Sands as a teacher for the past three years and part of the SSMCS family since 2015. I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from UNLV with her area of study in Landscape Architecture. In my free time I enjoy painting, crafting, and camping with my husband and daughters.
I am a Las Vegas transplant from Georgia! I am excited to be here in the Vegas area and even more excited to be a part of Silver Sands. I have wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember and ten years ago that life-long dream came true. I began my teaching career in 2007 after graduating from the University of West Georgia. I began my career by teaching fifth grade but it wasn't until four years later that I found my true passion...Kindergarten! I taught kindergarten in Georgia for six years.
I teach for the "light bulb moments", meaning I truly teach to see a child "get it". I not only love to teach, but love to keep learning. I have taken courses to add a gifted and mathematics endorsement to my certificate. I will seek out professional articles and or books to read when I feel the need to learn something new about my chosen passion.
Outside of teaching, I enjoy sewing, embroidery, and other crafts. I also enjoy running...although I am quite slow I do enjoy participating in races ranging from a 5K distance to a half marathon. I am married an awesome guy, named Mark and have two children; Cameron and Reagan.
I am proud to be the lead teacher of the Desert Tortoise classroom ~kindergarten is such a fun and exploration filled time in a scholar’s life. I continually strive to feed my thirst for knowledge through participation in a variety of professional development opportunities. My husband and I have a remarkable nine year old who will be entering 4th grade. In addition, we also have a superb one year-old who enjoys singing and dancing. Our lives revolve around our boys and all the fun they bring to our home. We spend time together swimming, traveling, and playing in the park near our home. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to share my love of learning with the scholars and families at SSMCS.
